ASA International Forum is one of interesting activities in architect’17, the 31st ASEAN’s Largest Building Technology Exposition under the concept of “BAAN BAAN Reconsidering Dwelling” held in 2-7 May 2017 at Challenger Hall 1-3, Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. This year, world’s leading architects join the expo to give academic lectures as following:
- David Schafer, Studiomake founder
Studiomake is the studio designing unique and outstanding works and leaded by Mr. David Schafer and Ms. Im-Orapan Sarasalin, his wife, together with architect team, designers and many creators to produce many impressive works in Bankok such as Sai Ma workshop, Chinese-Thai Institute of RSU (CTI), Office design of Uber, Dude Cigar Bar with chic red-brick bar on Sukhumvit Rd., Sit of Faith (Weird and different chairs), and other various design works.
2. Shingo Masuda, talented architect from Japan
Shingo Masuda from Shingo Masuda+Katsuhisa Otsubo Architects was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1982. He graduated in architecture from Musashino Art University in 2007. He has become a lecturer in the university after his graduation since 2009. Shingo Masuda+Katsuhisa Otsubo Architects was guaranteed by local and international architectural awards such as Japanese Publication SD Review Award in 2008 and 2009, Japan Commercial Environmental Design Association (JCD) Award Gold Prize in 2011 and 2014, Runner-up in the AR Emerging Architecture Awards from Architectural Review magazine in 2011, winner of the AR Emerging Architecture Awards Architectural Review magazine in 2014. He was chosen to be a part of Japanese Pavilion team in Venice Biennale 2016 and became famous from publishing in many magazines such as Architectural Review and Global Architecture etc.
3. Max Schwitalla, creator of design works of buildings in modern city
Max Schwitalla is a young designer who should be kept an eye on from Germany. He used to work for famous studio like HENN StudioB whose enormous design projects are shown in China. He had worked with many well-known architects until he established his own studio in Berlin in 2012. Max Schwitalla concentrated his design concept on creating modern architecture emphasizing on buildings in the city which reflects the society of urban people through the design of visual arts. Therefore, the patterns of many works in the studio are like the connectors between architectural components and the design of resident community focusing on living in horizontal, flexible and easy-transportation access buildings. The design emphasizes on the gap for moving under rush surroundings like in the present urban society and perfectly responding to the new generation’s lifestyles.
4. Keisuke Maeda, architect from Japan
Keisuke Maeda is an architect from Japan and the owner of UID architecture company. He was born in 1974 at Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan. He graduated from faculty of architecture, Kokushikan university. He has started his job as a lecturer in many institutes since 2007. He believes that architectural design is the environmental design. He also believes that people’s experience occurs when people relate to natural surroundings by surveying human’s emotion and feelings through how they react and communicate with the nature, plant and animal.
5. Anjalendran, leading architect from Sri Lanka
Chelvadurai Anjalendran is an architect from Sri Lanka. He has continuously developed himself for more than 20 years until he became one of the leading architects of Sri Lanka. His design works are widely and very well-known in India as they are modern and show the design concept that maintains the conventional culture of Sri Lanka. Anjalendran believes that the point of architectural design is to upgrade human’s mind. Anjalendran’s works are so unique and specific that they are published in the book called Anjalendran: Architect of Sri Lanka. Through his being as an architect, he has designed houses, offices, commercial buildings which can be counted about 120 places. Some of them are designed by his faith without getting paid. Besides being an architect, he is a lecturer in the university for both in Sri Lanka and abroad. He has been awarded with many honor awards such as 4 winner awards from SLIA Design Awards competition and The Kenneth F Brown Asia Pacific Architecture and Culture Design Award from Hawaii etc.
